In today’s hyper-competitive society, it pays to set yourself ambitious targets that will get you noticed. However, there’s no point shooting for the moon if you never actually get off the ground.
Here are three vital traits that can help anyone turn their ambitious ideas into reality.
Be accountable, open and positive
First, be accountable. You have to hold yourself to the highest possible standards. Start by asking for feedback from your colleagues. Specifically, ask them what you can do to improve. Asking this will ensure they point out your weak spots – the elements that you really need to improve on.
Second, be open and share your ideas with others. When you have a great idea, the temptation is to hide it from prying eyes. But sharing your ideas will both help you realize them and encourage you to come up with more. So get your thoughts and ideas into the open, and listen to what others think about them.
Finally, be positive. Focus on the best aspects of an idea, and make sure others feel your positivity. Just as caricaturists exaggerate people’s facial features, you should emphasize the positive aspects of whatever it is you’re promoting. That way, you’ll get others on board.
